Founded in 2006, Downtown Designs studio & gallery is a nonprofit based

in Newport, RI.  Our gallery exhibits the work of 20 self taught artists as

well as emerging and established artists from our local community.

Our studio is a bright, inclusive environment equipped with a variety of supplies for creating within multiple mediums.  It’s a place where artists

come together to delve into the creative process and hone their skills.  

The 12 artists who are part of Downtown Designs’s collective, and other

local artists, utilize this space to create original sculptures, hand-built

pottery, jewelry, mosaics, embroidered items and tapestries.

At Downtown Designs, we believe in the power of collaboration and the importance of sharing space and creativity.  Over the years, we’ve

developed strong partnerships with local organizations, museums,

schools and artists.  Fostering these relationships has expanded

opportunities for people to participate in classes, exhibits,

community art projects, artisan fairs and events.
